60% Drop in Cryptocurrency Wallet Revenue in the First Half of 2026

The revenue from cryptocurrency wallets and interfaces reached approximately $400 million in the first half of 2026, marking a 60% decrease compared to the previous year. This decline is attributed to a drop in trading activities and the volatility of cryptocurrency prices, which has reduced the revenue of this sector by about $700 million. The revenue from wallets in the first half of 2025 was around $1.1 billion. Additionally, the revenue from decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN) also fell by 10%, decreasing from $293 million to $264 million. Meanwhile, the revenue from cryptocurrency gaming grew by 8%, rising from approximately $3.1 billion to $3.3 billion, now representing the largest share of reported consumer sector revenue. The company 1kx stated that the growth in the gaming sector has compensated for the weakness in wallets, but it also highlights the market's high dependence on volatile categories. Wallets typically generate revenue from swap fees, transaction fees, and DeFi services, and an increase in the number of addresses does not necessarily lead to a growth in fees.
