The AB Foundation, a non-profit organization related to cryptocurrency, has applied for voluntary dissolution with the Companies Registration Office in Ireland. Since its establishment, the foundation has reportedly not held any official operational meetings and has not engaged in any business activities. Founded in early 2025, the AB Foundation was registered in Ireland with plans to transparently raise and execute charitable funds using blockchain and artificial intelligence. However, it has not progressed to a practical operational stage due to the lack of official meetings. Voluntary dissolution is a procedure where a company that has ceased operations or has never operated requests to have its corporate name removed. If the application meets the requirements, the decision on dissolution will be made after a public notice and a period for objections. While voluntary dissolution does not imply illegal activities or sanctions, once completed, the entity will no longer exist as a registered organization in Ireland. The AB Foundation has promoted an advisory network composed of former national leaders and international figures, but it has faced controversy due to its association with the crypto resort development project in East Timor. Former Prime Minister Bertie Ahern denied any connection between the Irish foundation and the East Timor project, stating that the Irish entity does not have a bank account related to the donation activities known under the foundation's name.
