Kalshi Denies Investigation by the U.S. CFTC into Its Trading Activities
Kalshi stated that the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has not contacted them, and the company does not believe it is under formal investigation, refuting reports that its prediction market trading activities are under regulatory scrutiny. Most of the trading volume in Kalshi's Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual contract markets consists of trades of similar sizes, with many Ethereum perpetual contract trades concentrated around $5,500 and Bitcoin perpetual contract trades centered around $2,500 or $5,000. Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that the CFTC was investigating Kalshi's trading activities, with regulators reviewing data to determine whether to initiate an enforcement investigation. Kalshi indicated that these data patterns are typical characteristics of liquidity incentive programs and are common in financial markets.
