Stuart Alderoty, the Chief Legal Officer of Ripple, opposed the term "crypto kids" in an opinion piece published in the Wall Street Journal. Alderoty stated that this characterization misrepresents 67 million Americans. He emphasized that nearly one-third of crypto owners in the U.S. are women and that the number of investors over the age of 55 exceeds that of those under 25. This contradicts the perception that the industry is solely composed of young men. Alderoty made these remarks following an article criticizing the CLARITY Act proposal in the Wall Street Journal. The piece noted that while the regulation could provide legal clarity, it needs to be amended before becoming law in its current form. Additionally, it was suggested that some provisions could allow crypto exchanges to offer stablecoin-linked reward structures. Objections from the crypto sector have increased; Ji Kim, CEO of the Blockchain Association, argued that the article contained factual and legal errors. Alderoty pointed out that crypto asset ownership spans a broad segment of American society while noting that political attitudes have not changed. According to a survey conducted by Normington Petts, 84% of Democratic primary voters have a negative view of candidates who support the crypto sector.
