Robinhood Chain produced blocks during 40-minute app disruption
Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum layer-2 network, continued block production during a disruption on September 4. A new analysis corrected earlier reports that claimed block production halted for at least 14 minutes. Instead, it found that while blocks were continuously produced, successful transactions through busy apps dropped significantly for about 40 minutes. Glass Hull's measurement recorded 854255 blocks produced throughout the day, with the longest gap between blocks being two seconds. The supposed halt began at 12:57 UTC, during which 592 blocks were produced. Earlier claims of a 14-minute block production halt were inaccurate; the actual interruptions were in posting transaction data to Ethereum, not in block production. Walnut's analysis indicated that successful transactions through busy apps fell to about 20% of usual during the disruption. QuickNode began investigating increased latency at 13:10 UTC and warned users of potential performance degradation by 16:20 UTC. In a statement, @arbitrum confirmed there was no downtime for the chain, but some providers experienced brief performance impacts. The cause of the posting delays remains unresolved, but continuous block production was established alongside impaired app traffic.
