Russian Marketplaces Will Not Compensate for Drone Attack Losses

Russian marketplaces are absolving themselves of responsibility for the loss of sellers' goods in the event of drone attacks. Starting August 1, "Magnit Market" added a clause to its agreement stating that it will not compensate for damages due to force majeure circumstances, including military actions. Compensation will also not be paid for actions taken by emergency services to move or destroy goods. "Magnit Market" has become the fifth retailer to follow the example of Wildberries, Ozon, "Yandex Market," and "Megamarket." Since mid-July, the logistics infrastructure of Wildberries has suffered significant damage, with the area of attacked facilities exceeding 1.5 million square meters, accounting for 27% of all warehouse capacities. The damage to Wildberries is estimated at 100-200 billion rubles, while potential losses for sellers are estimated at 279 billion rubles. Wildberries has offered paid insurance for goods against drone attacks, but the maximum payout is limited to 50,000 rubles per unit. The insurance will only be valid during delivery and storage at pickup points, and the rates for it will rise to 1.96-5.6% of the value of the goods.
