Shipping Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz Drops to 3 Vessels, Energy Transport Costs Rise
On October 8, QCP released a market thematic report indicating that negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding passage arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz have stalled. The U.S. has taken measures such as withdrawing the Iranian delegation and imposing additional sanctions, but Qatar's mediation channels remain open. Currently, the number of vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped to 3, compared to a normal average of 26. The U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve has decreased by 28% since May, and the transportation price of crude oil from West Africa to China has risen to $27.22 per barrel, an increase of 319% compared to the average of $7.37 per barrel since the beginning of the year. The flow of refined oil transportation still lags by about 33%. QCP stated that the tightening supply of tankers may keep future delivery costs at a high level. In the cryptocurrency market, Anthropic's IPO has been postponed to mid-November, with market valuation expectations around $200 billion; Strategy is slowing down Bitcoin purchases and prioritizing STRC buybacks, while capital flows into cryptocurrency ETFs are cooling, and the advancement of the U.S. "Clarity Act" has stalled.
