UN Secretary-General Calls for an AI Agreement
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has called for stronger regulation of artificial intelligence to prevent excessive concentration of corporate power and the emergence of killer robots. He pointed out that the rapid development of cutting-edge AI models could threaten the sovereignty of nations, with power shifting from governments to a few private companies and individuals. Guterres emphasized that the international community should reach an agreement on new safety measures for AI, noting that the pace of AI development has outstripped humanity's ability to understand its consequences. He mentioned that the race for AI and data centers is becoming a key force of the era, calling for protective mechanisms to ensure the safe development of technology. He stated that governments with the strongest AI capabilities bear the greatest responsibility to humanity and should establish channels for dialogue, transparency, trust, and cooperation.
