93.2% of XRPL Transactions in August Concentrated in 793 Accounts
In August 2026, 93.2% of transactions on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) were concentrated in 793 accounts. Blockchain data analytics firm Bitquery analyzed 5.06 billion transactions processed on XRPL since 2013. Nearly half of the active accounts ceased activity after a single transaction. Among the top 793 accounts, 767 were classified as decentralized exchange (DEX) order bots, dust transfers, or non-fungible token (NFT) order bots, while the remaining 26 accounts were analyzed as exchange hot wallets. One account submitted approximately 13 million orders in August, but only 882 of those were actually executed. Bitquery noted that excluding mechanical activities, real human-scale payments accounted for only 0.8% of total ledger activity. There were also counterarguments that it is difficult to conclude user absence solely based on transaction concentration, with Ripple CTO David Schwartz stating that low transaction fees can lead to both useful and useless activities. In August, 20,276,655 payments occurred on XRPL across 202,643 accounts, while 2,970,922 transactions were processed across 12,153 accounts on the integrated exchange. The x402 payment type saw 2,645,514 occurrences across 142 accounts, but this is insufficient to judge the ongoing real-world usage expansion of XRPL.
