BlackRock Report Highlights AI's Role in Driving Crypto Demand

BlackRock's new report indicates that artificial intelligence and digital assets are converging, with AI models favoring bitcoin and stablecoins. The report, titled "The Machine-Native Economy," suggests that the next major source of crypto demand may come from software rather than human investors. As AI agents engage in activities like booking travel and renting computing power, they will require payment systems capable of handling transactions worth fractions of a cent. BlackRock asserts that crypto-native blockchain infrastructure is well-suited for high-frequency, machine-to-machine transactions. The report cites research from the Bitcoin Policy Institute, which found that stablecoins are preferred for everyday payments while bitcoin serves as a store of value. As AI adoption increases, digital assets may become integral to AI's economic framework, enhancing the utility of stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets. BlackRock has consistently endorsed bitcoin and other crypto applications, including its iShares Bitcoin Trust, which was approved by the SEC in 2024 and has attracted over 67000 million dollars in assets.
