Ondo Finance Launches Tokenization Market for Private Companies
Ondo Finance is launching a tokenization market called 'Ondo Private Market' that allows indirect investment in private companies. This week, it plans to start secondary market trading of its first product based on an artificial intelligence (AI) company before its listing. The market will later expand to various sectors including robotics, cybersecurity, biotech, and infrastructure. Investors will be exposed to the economic performance tied to the value fluctuations of private companies without directly holding shares. Each 'tokenized note' will be linked to the per-share value of the underlying company's common stock during liquidity events such as initial public offerings (IPOs) or mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Qualified investors can store these tokens in their electronic wallets or trade them in the secondary market 24/7. To address the high minimum investment amounts and limited trading market issues associated with existing private company investments, Ondo Finance is exploring ways to enhance liquidity using blockchain technology. The name of the first underlying company has not been disclosed.
