Ripple Co-founder Chris Larsen Criticizes Fairshake's Funding Decision
Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has donated at least $22.5 million to the super PAC Fairshake during this election cycle. Fairshake plans to invest $30 million to oppose Ohio Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown, and Larsen subsequently donated $4 million to Brown's campaign personally. Larsen criticized Fairshake's decision, stating that Brown is not against the cryptocurrency industry. Ripple has cumulatively donated $93 million to Fairshake, with $48 million in this election cycle. A Ripple spokesperson stated that Larsen and CEO Brad Garlinghouse are evaluating whether to continue funding Fairshake, with the final decision to be made by Garlinghouse. Garlinghouse indicated that Ripple and the entire industry should reassess their engagement in Washington, and while no decision has been made yet, Ripple has not stopped supporting Fairshake at this time.
