Samsung Electronics plans to introduce stablecoin account openings, overseas remittances, and payment functions in Samsung Wallet in some countries by the end of this year. The company revealed this plan through a written response on the 8th. A representative stated, "We plan to sequentially introduce stablecoin account openings, overseas remittances, and payment functions within Samsung Wallet, starting in some countries this year." This plan concretizes Samsung's earlier announcement in July regarding the support for stablecoins in Samsung Wallet. On the 22nd of last month, during the 'Galaxy Unpacked 2026' event held in London, Samsung announced its plans to expand financial services in Samsung Wallet. At that time, Samsung stated, "Samsung Wallet will support new forms of digital value, including stablecoins, beyond cash and savings services." Furthermore, they expressed their vision of becoming one of the first major mobile brands to support stablecoins as a core feature on smartphones, integrating payments, rewards, and digital assets into a single financial ecosystem. While the written response specified that the service introduction would occur "by the end of this year," the specific countries targeted for initial implementation, the types of stablecoins to be supported, and the exact service launch schedule were not disclosed.
