Sunflower Prices Fall Below Rapeseed on the Ukrainian Market
On the Ukrainian market, the supply of new crop sunflowers has increased, leading to a decrease in purchase prices by 500 to 1000 UAH per ton, down to 19,000 to 20,500 UAH/ton on a CPT basis. As a result, for the first time in two years, sunflowers have become cheaper than rapeseed. In the southern regions, purchase prices for sunflowers reached 21,000 to 21,500 UAH/ton. Domestic demand prices for rapeseed rose to 480 to 500 USD per ton or 21,500 to 22,000 UAH/ton at Danube ports at the beginning of September. At the western border, rapeseed prices were 490 to 510 USD per ton, or 22,000 to 23,000 UAH/ton. The demand for rapeseed delivered to the port of Constanta in Romania was around 580 to 585 USD per ton. Processors are buying rapeseed with 44% oil content for 20,000 to 22,000 UAH/ton delivered to factories. Prices for sunflowers increased by 20 USD in the last week of August to 460 USD per ton excluding VAT on a CPT factory basis.
