<< The new frontier of finance is already here >>

As the hoped-for adoption of the U.S. crypto market bill, the CLARITY Act, before the end of this year seems to be failing, regulators are organizing to propose the necessary frameworks for the development of traditional finance capable of integrating cryptocurrencies and blockchain into its new operating rules.

This is a reality that the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has just addressed in an interview with the financial news channel CNBC, during which he discussed the prospect of a << next decade [that] will likely bring more changes to financial markets than the previous decades combined >>.

A transformation that started << under the influence of technologies such as predictive markets, cryptocurrencies, and artificial intelligence >>, but also tokenization, to the point of considering a reevaluation of all existing rules and regulations to ensure that << the United States is ready to initiate this transition to on-chain markets >>.

The new frontier of finance is not on the horizon. It is already here. As our markets evolve at a breakneck speed, the CFTC is modernizing its rules and regulations to prepare for the era of on-chain systems, mass tokenization, 24/7 trading, and agentic finance. Michael Selig

Michael Selig commits to continuing regulatory modernization

In light of the standstill imposed on the CLARITY Act, Michael Selig also expresses his desire to continue transmitting new rules to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), the White House office responsible for overseeing the review of regulatory proposals developed by U.S. federal agencies before their publication. The goal: << to continue modernizing the rules and regulations to adapt them to this new frontier of finance >>.

Within the Trump administration, we have already laid the groundwork that will allow us to continue down this path, fostering innovation, encouraging competition, adapting regulation proportionately, and preserving the trust that has made our markets a global benchmark. Michael Selig

A position already supported by Michael Selig during his address this Tuesday at the U.S. Treasury conference on the Treasury bond market, during which he explained that << just as the shift from manual signals to electronic trading advanced our financial system, tokenization can do the same for all categories of assets >>, enabling near-instant settlement and real-time transfer of collateral between clearinghouses, intermediaries, and users.

At the same time, the chairman of the CFTC is part of the recent initiative led by the Trump administration regarding active support for << the adoption of stablecoins by market participants, exchanges, and clearinghouses >>, but also (or especially) at the international level.
