Apple Surpasses $5 Trillion Market Cap, Reclaims World's Most Valuable Company

Apple (AAPL) climbed as high as $342.89 during the session, briefly pushing its market capitalization above $5 trillion. It became the second company after Nvidia to reach this milestone and reclaimed its position as the world's most valuable publicly listed company. Investors continue to view Apple as a defensive AI beneficiary, with capital inflows remaining strong ahead of Thursday's earnings release.

Earnings Season Heats Up as Coca-Cola and Boeing Lift the Dow

Coca-Cola raised its full-year revenue and profit guidance, sending its shares up about 5%, while Boeing delivered solid earnings with continued improvement in free cash flow. Together, the two companies helped drive the Dow Jones Industrial Average nearly 550 points higher.

Middle East Tensions Escalate Again

Iran launched multiple ballistic missiles toward a U.S. military base in Jordan, all of which were intercepted, undermining earlier expectations of easing tensions. Iran warned that if its control over the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed, it may close the waterway and resume military operations. Oil prices rebounded as geopolitical risk premiums increased.

Global markets on September 22 focus on a repair in AI-compute pricing. On September 21 the three major equity indexes closed higher. AMD rose nearly 10% and its market cap crossed $1 trillion for the first time, while Intel and Arm also surged. Brent crude fell about 3.4% to $100.34 and the 10-year Treasury yield eased to about 4.96%, lowering discount-rate pressure on long-duration tech. Bitcoin briefly broke above $87,000 and total crypto market cap returned above $3 trillion. Investors next watch consumer and housing earnings plus PMI flash prints.
