Bain: AI Industry Needs to Achieve $6 Trillion in Revenue by 2031
Bain & Company stated that the global artificial intelligence industry needs to achieve an annual revenue of $6 trillion by 2031 to justify the current capital investments in global data centers. Bain's annual Global Technology Report indicates that existing AI services are expected to contribute a maximum of $1.8 trillion, while the industry needs to create approximately $4.2 trillion in new revenue. This gap may come from emerging fields such as automation equipment and robotics, as well as application scenarios in drug development, mental health, and energy production. David Crawford, head of Bain's Global Technology, Media, and Telecommunications business, stated that the AI industry needs to usher in a wave of innovation that surpasses the mobile internet and cloud computing eras. He pointed out that the pace of AI infrastructure development has clearly outstripped the growth in demand, and to achieve sustainable financing, global GDP growth needs to be pushed up by an additional approximately 1 percentage point annually.
