Block Gifts 1 Bitcoin to ComplexCon Attendee
Block gifted 1 Bitcoin to a lucky attendee at ComplexCon in Los Angeles, promoting bitcoin adoption. The event featured Block's Cash App stall with a fishing game called "Lightning Lake," where participants could win small amounts of bitcoin. One player won a full coin, valued at 85000 dollars at the time. Maria Pesce, Head of Bitcoin Marketing at Block, stated the aim was to make bitcoin approachable and fun, allowing newcomers to experience using bitcoin in a playful setting. Block has been advocating for bitcoin adoption through its products, including Cash App and Square's point-of-sale terminals. This month, Block launched an advertising campaign to encourage the use of bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Jack Dorsey, who left Twitter in 2021 to focus on payments and bitcoin, envisions the cryptocurrency as a global currency. Celebrities, including North West and French Montana, were also seen at the event.
