AWS Reveals AI Agent's Automatic Payment Case with USDC
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has unveiled a case where an AI agent purchases financial data and makes automatic payments using the stablecoin USDC. According to the AWS blog on the 9th, the AI investment analysis service Heurist Finance is purchasing paid financial data through 'Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments.' When the AI agent requires paid data, it proceeds with the payment directly, which is processed on the base blockchain. For example, when a user requests an analysis of a specific company, the AI agent buys the necessary data and utilizes it for the analysis. The payment process involves the Coinbase developer platform and a virtual asset wallet. The AI can only make payments within a predetermined payment limit, and it does not purchase data that exceeds this limit. When the AI agent requests paid data, the data provider sends information such as the price, payment address, and the payment asset, USDC. AgentCore Payments checks whether the payment amount exceeds the limit before approving the payment and retrieving the data. AWS explained that this allows AI services to purchase only the necessary data without a separate contract. This case is evaluated as a customer application example connecting AWS's AI agent payment function to external digital asset wallets and blockchain payment networks.
