Shinhan Investment Corp. Proposes New Asset Allocation Including 2% Bitcoin
Shinhan Investment Corp. has proposed a new asset allocation consisting of 60% stocks, 30% bonds, 8% gold, and 2% Bitcoin. This decision is based on the assessment that the diversification effect of the traditional 60% stocks and 40% bonds strategy has weakened. Park Woo-yeol, the chief researcher at Shinhan Investment Corp., explained that the phenomenon of stocks and bonds moving in the same direction has continued. The new allocation plan reduces the existing bond proportion from 40% by 10 percentage points and incorporates alternative assets at 10%, with gold at 8% and digital assets at 2%. Shinhan Investment Corp. has considered including alternative assets to find those with a low correlation to stocks and bonds. Researcher Park suggested splitting the reduced bond proportion between gold and Bitcoin. Starting this year, the proposal includes a 2% allocation to digital assets, noting that the combination of 8% gold and 2% Bitcoin has shown relatively good risk-adjusted performance. This allocation plan is based on past performance analysis, and actual investment results may vary depending on the investor's risk tolerance and market conditions. Shinhan Investment Corp. presented a model that reviews alternative assets, including Bitcoin, within the traditional asset allocation framework and emphasized that further validation is necessary.
